Drilling Out The Bakken Formation Across From Theodore Roosevelt National Park
Drilling Out The Bakken Formation Across From Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota - 1983

I was reminded of this photograph when I ran across a book an old acquaintence published over 10 years ago. While the book's landscape has a similar look as seen here to the uninformed, his story of walking through the American Heartland begins further south and east of the photograph.

In checking the current situation near
Theodore Roosevelt National Park, I found that this area is still a ongoing hub for oil and gas development. It is under even more of a threat now than it was when I camped there. You can follow the related links below to find more about the issue.
