Davis Canyon Petroglyph Circles
Davis Canyon Petroglyph Circles, 1983

I found this image on the side of a sandstone wall as I headed up the canyon wash towards the five faces pictograph in Davis Canyon.

Shortly thereafter not far away, I discovered a shamans' stone in the shape of a snake's head with a green cast to it in the sandy brown silt at my feet.

I always find the Utah Canyonlands area to be a place where rocks speak with their own tongue, and grab ahold of your soul with a silent sound.

In the center of these circles, there appears to be a image of a small head embedded in the rock. I suspect the circles were added later to complete the thought.

A Field Check is in Order: According to Casleton's reference book, I have the image posted here rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise! (Over the years, I have come to prefer it oriented this way.)
